  • Is it possible to play Clunky Hero on a Steam Deck. We have tested the game and we can run it at a stable 40fps. The only, minor, downside is that some text might appear a bit small. But other than that, it’s a game that you can very much enjoy on Steam Deck.

  • STEAM DECK

  • Consider that Clunky Hero has been developed natively on Old Generations consoles (Xbox One X, PS4). It runs smoothly – actually faster and with faster loading times – also on New Gen consoles (Xbox Series X|S, PS5), but not being native for those platforms, it can’t exploit their full potential (like 4K resolution for instance).

  • NEXT GEN CONSOLES PERFORMANCE

  • Unfortunately in a few levels, out of the nearly 50 available in Clunky Hero, the user interface (specifically the bonus items panel, quests panel, and game over buttons), might be displayed wrongly. We’ve tried to catch all the levels where this happens, and we are confident that they are fine at least in 90% of the cases. However, if you encounter this bug, simply moving to a different level will solve the display problem.

  • BONUS/QUESTS PANELS MESSED UP

  • It could happen occasionally, that some text is not displayed properly, or is it wrongly cut. This is more common if you are playing with Asian characters (Japanese, Korean, Chinese). Usually closing and opening again the interface, should solve the issue. However, some items descriptions in inventory might be cut on those languages that require a lot of words (like German or Italian). But no worries, the most important information is usually within the first couple of rows.

  • SOME TEXT IS MISSING OR WRONGLY DISPLAYED

  • Sometimes the camera shifts when the main character is looking up or down, and stays stuck in that position, having the main character positioned in the upper or lower side of the screen. Simply move the stick up or down to restore the camera position and center the player.

  • CAMERA IS STUCK WHEN LOOKING UP/DOWN

  • On PC, sometime it could happen that you cannot see the buttons to press to trigger a specific action, skill or navigate the UI. This is because the system for some reasons cannot recognize the input you are using (being it a gamepad, keyboard or mouse). Usually the problem is solved by pressing some buttons and/or by detaching and attaching again your input device: closing and opening again the UI should now show the icons.

  • I CANNOT SEE THE BUTTON ICONS

  • Very rarely, and for apparent no reasons (we have tried thousands of times and were not able to reproduce), the main character might be unable to jump or to move horizontally. If this happens to you, you can solve this issue and unlock the player, simply pushing the "Walk" button (default “Walk” is Left Bumper, or Left Shift if you are playing with keyboard) and everything should return to normal.

  • CHARACTER IS STUCK AND CANNOT MOVE

  • Please consider this is a platformer “metroidvania” (which is a sub-genre with specific characteristics), so there are areas and items that you cannot reach until you unlock a specific skill (like Double Jump, Rocket Leap, or Dash). It is part of the game genre to allow further exploration only after you gain some skills/abilities. However, if you think you should reach a platform no matter the skills, then please verify that you are running Clunky Hero at least at 30FPS (even better 60FPS): this value is shown on the bottom-left corner of the game. The physics of the jumps in Clunky Hero relies on FPS, so if you are lower than 25fps you might jump too little. To run the game flawless, we suggest lowering your screen resolution or graphic quality, until you can run the game at least at 30fps. This issue should not happen if you are playing on Console (Switch, Xbox, PS), except if you are with Switch + TV-Mode (see above).

  • CHARACTER CAN’T REACH A PLATFORM

  • If the intro video is stuttering, and overall the game does not run smoothly, it could depend on mainly two causes. 1) If you are on a Nintendo Switch and play on TV, please bear in mind that – as written on the store page of the game – TV-mode is unfortunately not supported. It actually runs on TV-mode, but it may have slow performances, so we suggest that you play Clunky Hero in handheld mode only. 2) If you are on a PC (laptop or desktop), please check that you have the minimum requirements as written on the Steam or GOG page. If the game does not run smoothly, try to lower the resolution and the quality from the Video Options menu. In general, it is a good practice to check the store page where you bought Clunky Hero, to understand what is supported and what not.

  • VIDEO STUTTERING / SLOW PERFORMANCE / GLITCHY

  • Please consider that a very small indie team developed Clunky Hero (actually, most of it was solo). This does not mean that we did not spend tons of hours trying to fix all the possible bugs and glitches. We truly care about our customers, and we tried our best to deliver a very high quality game, despite the low budget we had. This said, if even an AAA title that cost hundreds of millions of dollars sometime is released with many bugs, unfortunately also Clunky Hero might have some glitches. This guide covers the most common problems that we were not able to solve, or that might be present in some machines/configurations. Be sure that we will keep working hard also after the release, to fix all the old and new bugs, via patches. Thanks for understanding.
